ROOM-BY-ROOM CLIMATE

Heating Control

The wired and wireless backbone that holds everything else together.

Genius Hub logoGenius Hub specialists

Heating is the bit of a smart home you interact with daily and notice every minute. Get it right and the house warms the rooms you are about to use, cools the rooms you have just left, and quietly trims a third off the bill. Get it wrong and the boiler runs flat out heating empty bedrooms. We design and install Genius Hub multi-zone wireless heating as our headline platform, with Heatmiser for wired installations and rewires, integrated into the same scenes that drive the lights, the audio and the cinema.

WHAT WE DELIVER

Honest, hands-on, and built to last.

Genius Hub

Multi-zone wireless heating that learns the house and the people. Every room scheduled independently, the boiler firing only when a room is actually below target.

Heatmiser when wired

Wall thermostats and wiring centres for wet underfloor heating, rewires and new builds. Pairs cleanly with Nice for whole-home control.

Per-room scheduling

Each room gets its own schedule, not the whole floor on one curve. Bathrooms warm for 7am exactly, guest bedrooms left alone all week.

Inside the wider system

Heating sits in the same scenes as the lights, audio and cinema. Film night warms the snug. Away mode drops the whole house to frost-safe.

What scene-based heating actually changes

Smart heating is not a smart thermostat. A smart thermostat is one room and one schedule. Smart heating is every room scheduled to the way you actually live, warming where you are about to be rather than where you just left.

The house figures out the morning routine after a fortnight and the working week within a month. The energy bill drops because no boiler is heating empty bedrooms at three in the afternoon. The comfort improves because the bathroom is warm at seven in the morning precisely because Tuesday morning is always seven.

For most family homes this is the easiest single upgrade to justify. The bill saving is real, the comfort improvement is daily, and the system fades into the background once tuned.

Genius Hub, plainly

Genius Hub is the platform we lead with for multi-zone heating. It is the most capable wireless system available in the UK, and the only one that genuinely learns the house rather than acting on a fixed schedule. Each room gets its own wireless thermostatic head on the radiator, or its own controller for underfloor zones. Every room runs its own schedule, and the hub coordinates the boiler to fire only when a room is actually below target.

The intelligence is what sets it apart. The system learns how long each room takes to heat, how the house behaves on a cold morning versus a warm afternoon, and whether the family is at home or away. Heating fires preemptively so the room is at temperature when you arrive, not warming up half an hour late. Holiday mode, away presence, room footfall sensors and the Genius Hub app all feed the same coordinated picture.

Genius Hub works with nearly every wet system: combi boilers, system boilers, conventional boilers, heat pumps and underfloor heating. We assess your boiler and your existing wiring before quoting and write the install plan accordingly.

Heatmiser when wired makes sense

Heatmiser is our wired alternative. We deploy Heatmiser when the property is being rewired, when underfloor heating is going in throughout, or when the brief specifically calls for wired thermostats and wiring centres rather than wireless heads.

Heatmiser's NeoStat and NeoHub family give clean wall thermostats, robust wiring centres for wet underfloor heating, and a control app that pairs cleanly with Nice (ELAN OS 9) for whole-home control. In new builds we run the heating wiring as part of the first-fix specification alongside the structured cabling, so the wall thermostats sit exactly where the brief calls for and the wiring centre tucks neatly into the plant room.

Heatmiser and Genius Hub work happily in the same house when a property has different zones with different requirements. Wireless Genius Hub on the upper floors, wired Heatmiser for the underfloor heating in the kitchen and basement. We choose per zone, not per house.

Heating in listed and period homes

Period homes are the natural home of smart heating. The original radiator network is often the only practical option, the rooms are large and slow to warm, and the family rarely uses every room every day. Genius Hub's wireless heads replace existing thermostatic radiator valves without chasing a wall or running new cable. Within a fortnight the system has learned the rhythm of the house.

The drawing room is warm by five on Sunday because Sunday afternoons go that way. The guest bedroom is cold all week because nobody is in it. The downstairs cloakroom is on for ten minutes at half-past seven because that is when somebody is always in it.

We agree any visible thermostat position with you and, where the conservation officer is involved, agree those positions with them first. We can wire Heatmiser thermostats into existing chases where rewires are already happening, and we can deploy Genius Hub entirely wirelessly where the building is not to be touched.

Heating as a layer in the wider smart home

Heating is a layer in the same scene system that drives the lights, the audio and the cinema. Film night warms the cinema room to twenty-one and drops the rest of the house to eighteen. Away mode drops every room to a frost-safe minimum. Morning scene warms the bathroom while the lights come up.

Voice command works through Alexa for everyday convenience, or through Nice Voice when Genius Hub or Heatmiser sit under Nice (ELAN OS 9) as part of a wider smart home. The smarter the rest of the house gets, the more heating sits at the heart of the experience.

We design heating into the scene system from the start rather than bolting it on later. It is the right way round and it earns its keep daily.

Monitored and supported

We do not install a heating system and walk away. Genius Hub and Heatmiser both report back to us. We see when a thermostatic head loses sync, when a room schedule drifts, when the boiler does not fire when it should.* Most issues we fix before you notice.*

For things we cannot fix remotely, we offer same-day attendance under our support plans.* Quarterly health checks keep the schedules tuned and the firmware current. The relationship is ongoing, not transactional.

*Available to clients on an active Hubbub maintenance contract.

Frequently asked questions

Will Genius Hub work with my existing boiler?

Yes in nearly every case. Genius Hub works with combi boilers, system boilers, conventional boilers, heat pumps and underfloor heating. We check your boiler and your existing wiring as part of the survey and confirm compatibility before quoting.

Can I keep my existing thermostatic radiator valves?

The Genius Hub wireless heads replace your existing TRVs directly. The change takes minutes per radiator and is fully reversible. No pipework changes, no draining, no plumbing.

How long does an install take?

A typical family home takes a day or two. Larger period homes with twenty-plus radiators take two to three days. The system then tunes itself over the following fortnight as it learns the house.

Does the heating still work if the internet drops?

Yes. Schedules continue running on the local hub if the internet goes down. The Genius Hub app and remote access pause until the connection is restored, but the heating itself keeps doing what it was told to do.

Can heating sit alongside Nice, Rako and the rest of the smart home?

Yes. Genius Hub and Heatmiser both integrate cleanly with Nice (ELAN OS 9) so heating becomes a layer in the same scene system that drives lighting, audio, cinema and access. Voice control through Alexa or Nice Voice is supported.
