East Lothian gives us some of the most interesting briefs we work on. Country houses and listed steadings inland. Coastal homes around North Berwick, Gullane, Aberlady and Dunbar. New build estates on the edges of Haddington and Musselburgh. Each has its own technical character and we adapt the brief accordingly.
Country houses and coastal properties
Older East Lothian homes carry the same kind of fabric constraints as Edinburgh's period properties: thick stone walls, original plaster, careful conservation requirements. We work with conservation officers and architects so installs respect the building, not just the budget.
Coastal properties have a different brief. Salt air is hard on outdoor kit. We specify hardware that survives it, and we route cabling away from corrosion-prone aspects.
