Project Overview

Hubbub was commissioned to deliver a complete, fully integrated home technology solution as part of the extensive renovation of a Victorian country estate in East Lothian. This project involved upgrading a historic villa, adjoining stables and cottage with a modern technology infrastructure that enhances comfort, connectivity and daily living, while respecting the character and scale of the original architecture.  Throughout the project, our team worked closely with the homeowners, architects and builders to ensure that the technology was thoughtfully designed, precisely installed and seamlessly integrated into the fabric of the building. From early system design and pre-wire planning through installation, commissioning and comprehensive client familiarisation, we delivered a solution that elevates the day-to-day experience across every part of this remarkable property. 

A Tailored Technology Solution

Every heritage renovation comes with its own unique challenges, from preserving architectural integrity to accommodating modern lifestyles. In this East Lothian home, we focused on creating a system that feels intuitive and effortless, yet powerful and flexible for future needs:

  • Multi-room Sky TV with distribution throughout key living spaces
  • Telephone network serving the main house, stables and cottage
  • Whole-home Wi-Fi provided through strategically placed wireless access points (WAPs) for consistent coverage
  • Smart heating control using Heatmiser to deliver comfort and efficiency in every room
  • Remotely controlled lighting across the house, walled garden and grounds via Rako lighting control
  • Aerial and satellite distribution to support televisions throughout the property
  • Centralised equipment cabinet to keep infrastructure organised and hidden from view
  • Future-ready system design, pre-cabled to allow for straightforward expansion or upgrades
  • Video gate-entry system (Comelit) with a gate located approximately 500 m from the house, for secure access and convenience
  • Full CCTV coverage with 9 Lilin cameras to provide comprehensive monitoring of the property and grounds

Wiring was discreetly concealed, controls are intuitive, and systems are designed to operate in the background, enhancing everyday life without ever feeling intrusive.  The result is a refined, cohesive environment where entertainment, comfort, security and connectivity work together seamlessly.
